What is epilepsy?
Epilepsy is a nervous system condition that causes recurring, unprovoked seizures. Children and adults can have repeated seizures. Is caused by unusual electrical activity in the brain that can change someone's behavior, movement, or feelings.
There are treatments for many types of epilepsy (EP-eh-lep-see). Some causes for epilepsy are: kids will outgrow the condition, gene changes, brain injury, tumors, problems with the brain developed before birth, abnormal blood vessels, bleeding in the brain, and infections.
The word “epilepsy” simply means the same thing as “seizure disorders”. This won't tell the cause of the seizure or its severity.
Different kinds of Epilepsy:
Absence Seizures
Atonic Seizures
Atypical Absence Seizure
Clonic Seizure
Tonic - seizure
There are still more kinds of Epilepsy. Epilepsy is classified now as Focal Onset, Generalized onset, and unknown onset.
